Short Course Meters or SCM is a type of swimming pool that is one of the two global swimming pool standards - it's the shorter version of 25 meters that international competition can happen in. Some swimmers use slang terms such as "short water" or simply call it - short swimming pool.

SCM Swimming Definition:

SCM or Short Course Swimming Pool is a standard 25 meter pool. It is one of two generally accepted global swimming competition standard pools. It is called a short pool, because it is 2 times shorter than Olympic (LCM) swimming pool.

What SCY or LCM mean?

There are 3 main types of world standard pools that are being used by swimmers around the globe. Actually there's more like 2 main ones and a third pool only used in USA due to their love for imperial measurement system. Other than SCM swimming pool, two other main swimming pool lengths are:

  1. LCM (Long Course Meters) Swimming Pool (50 meters in length) - Classic Olympic Pool
  2. SCY (Short Course Meters) Swimming Pool (25 yards in length, which is 22,86 meters)
